Principle Investigators (PI)
Dr. Elvira Hermawati
She was born in Indonesia (Manado) and graduated in 2009 as an undergraduate student from the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) in the department of chemistry, where she explored the isolation of natural substances from Desmodium triquetrum. After performing research in conjunction with Meiji Pharmacetical University (2010) under the supervision of Prof. Lia Dewi Juliawaty, she resumed her studies in the same place for a Master degree (2011) on the isolation of secondary metabolites from Garcinia mangostana as an anticancer. She graduated in 2017 as a doctoral student after continuing her studies on the isolation of secondary metabolites from the endophytic fungi Xylaria, Phomopsis, and Talaromyces wortmanii under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Euis Holisotan.
Together with Dr. Ade Danova they are working on the isolation of secondary metabolites from plants, as well as the synthesis and transformation of secondary metabolies and the production of FDA-approved anticancer derivatives. They are also working on a number of laboratory bioactivity assays, including tyrosine kinase, betalactamase, caspase-3, and caspase-7, as well as antibacterial. She is presently a lecturer in organic chemistry at the Institut Teknologi Bandung, Department of Chemistry, as well as the manager of the NMR Laboratory and the leader of the integrated chemistry laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, ITB, Indonesia.
Ade Danova, Ph.D.
He was born and raised in Majalengka, Indonesia, where he finished his undergraduate study in chemistry at Mulawarman University. He conducted research under the supervision of Professor Dr. Daniel Tarigan to synthesize polyols based on Moringa oleifera seed oil. He then became highly interested in organic synthesis. In August 2016, he began his M.Sc research under Assistant Professor Dr. rer. nat. Didin Mujahidin in the Department of Chemistry, Institut Teknologi Bandung. His project was to modify Cinchona Alkaloids for organocatalysis. In mid-December 2018, he pursued study Ph.D. under Assistant Professor Dr. Warinthorn Chavasiri in the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, to synthesize chalcone derivatives, bioactive molecule hybrids, and study anticancer and inhibition mechanisms of several enzymes related to melanin production, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and Alzheimer’s. Since December 2022, He is a lecturer in the Organic Chemistry Division, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia.
